I’m officially calling it. As of this morning, I resumed eating like a normal person and here‘s why.
For one, I wasn’t eating anywhere near enough total calories in a day. Do you know how much zucchini and lettuce it takes to match the calories in just one piece of bread? For two, I’ve had terrible calf cramps for three days now, and it’s not just soreness from step class. I finally googled it and that’s a symptom of carbohydrate deficiency. For three, the goal was never weight loss, it was feeling healthy. And for me, that means eating whole wheat pasta, drinking milk, and having the energy to make it through back to back gym classes if I want to.
This has been a very interesting experiment in which I became introduced to some new foods, and became more aware of how much sugar is in some unexpected foods. I’ll still be making coconut cocoa and staying away from refined sugars like the left over Christmas truffles waiting for me in the freezer, but I’m pretty excited to eat that lasagna I froze a few weeks ago.
